Official Taxi

Yellow taxis wait at the official rank outside arrivals. A fixed fare of EUR 40 (05:00-23:59) or EUR 55 (00:00-04:59) applies to central Athens. The meter is used for other destinations.

Private Transfer

A pre-booked transfer is reserved online before your trip, with a fixed price known in advance and a driver waiting with a name sign at arrivals.

How much is a taxi from the airport to central Athens?

A fixed fare of EUR 40 applies during the day (05:00-23:59) and EUR 55 at night (00:00-04:59) to the centre, regardless of traffic.

Where is the taxi rank?

Right outside the arrivals exit of the Main Terminal, clearly signposted and staffed.

Is a private transfer cheaper than a taxi?

For central Athens, a private transfer starts from EUR 38-49, slightly below the fixed taxi fare. For farther destinations, a transfer is usually better value thanks to its fixed price.

Do I need to book a taxi in advance?

No, taxis are available at the rank around the clock without booking. A private transfer, however, requires an online booking beforehand.

Do taxis accept card payment?

Most yellow taxis now accept card, but it is wise to carry some cash as a backup.

How much luggage fits in a taxi?

A standard taxi comfortably fits 2-3 suitcases. For more luggage or larger groups, choose a minivan transfer instead.

Is there an extra charge for night trips?

The night surcharge (00:00-04:59) is already included in the fixed EUR 55 fare. There is usually no extra charge for normal luggage.

How long does the trip to the centre take?

The journey usually takes 35-45 minutes via Attiki Odos, depending on traffic and time of day.
